Merryhills aims to provide a foundation for life in a happy, high achieving school, where all individuals embody the school values and who can ‘make a difference’ to the local community and wider world.  The children are encouraged to be inquisitive, confident learners who have a love of learning.  Staff work to ensure learning is challenging and inclusive in a learning environment which is calm and with good behaviour throughout. We know that children learn best when they feel safe and secure; we believe that each child’s school life is enhanced when there is a shared responsibility between the school and parents for the child’s development as a learner.
Merryhills is a Values Based Education Hub school which promotes active, global citizenship. We have an energetic and enthusiastic School Parliament which champions pupil voice and strives to provide a positive learning climate in the school. A strong emphasis is placed on the wider curriculum by offering enriching opportunities including participation in arts projects, performances and sporting events.
